MySource Matrix was the only Enterprise Open Source CMS at Internet World!

Which surprised me somewhat... The licensed vendors are finding life pretty tough at the moment. Where as Squiz, Alfresco and Drupal are going from strength to strength. Anyway, I'm not complaining – it made for a very successful show!

One of our long standing clients in the UK, Thaddeus Lipinski from Oxford University delivered a presentation on the benefits of pursuing an Open Source CMS strategy. His key findings were:

  1. Costs are reduced because money that used to be spent on a software license is now spent on acquiring the services they need to develop and run the website.
  2. Open Source Software can generate solutions faster than licensed software.
  3. MySource Matrix was chosen as their CMS because it:
  • Provides the lowest total cost of ownership
  • Is the 'least clunky' CMS
  • Had all the functionality they required 'out of the box'
  • Has a service company behind it (Squiz) that supports it commercially

In other news from the University sector, Matthew Bull from The University of Kent has written some excellent blog posts about MySource Matrix and our Open Source Software License.

Actually, The University of Kent, University of Edinburgh (School of Social and Political Studies) and The University College London have all recently bought supported versions of MySource Matrix. It's fantastic to see the Higher Education sector responding so positively to an open source product!
